WHAT’S NEW

Soluklan 1.9: programs, a sleep score and measuring the first breath

Eight new programs, a plan for every day and a program map, a suggestion for the program that suits you, a sleep score from your sleep and heart rate data if you want one, the session's first breath measured too, and rating and feedback in Settings.

1.8 made sessions longer. The question in 1.9 was: how does someone who does good sessions one at a time turn them into a path that lasts for weeks? The answer was programs. Before, there was only 28-Day Sighing. Now there are nine programs for different goals, and each one moves forward day by day.

Eight new programs

  • 4-Week Box Breathing: the box breathing arm of the study 28-Day Sighing is based on, five minutes a day.
  • Balance in Three Steps: three steps every day for three weeks: Coherent Breathing, Ocean Breath, then Coherent Breathing with a slightly longer exhale.
  • Bedtime Routine: slow breathing before bed for thirty evenings, with a dark, calm screen.
  • Breathing Basics: a path for beginners that moves forward lesson by lesson.
  • Find Your Own Pace: first the pace that feels most comfortable to you is found, then Coherent Breathing at that pace.
  • Big Day Prep: a short preparation every day until a day such as an exam, a presentation or an interview.
  • Long Breath: six weeks of practising a longer, slower and more controlled exhale. Once a week you measure your longest comfortable exhale with a closed-mouth "mmm". Also suits people who sing, play a wind instrument or run out of breath when they talk.
  • 28-Day Humming Bee: Humming Bee Breath every day for four weeks. The session starts at five minutes and grows to eight over the weeks.

Programs are in Profile → Programs. In the technique picker, the program row under the Physiological Sigh and Box Breathing also takes you there.

A plan for every day

Each day of a program is set up on its own. When you start the session, that day's length and technique are ready and you don't need to choose anything. In some programs the length grows as you get used to it and gets a little shorter after a day you found hard. Before each session you see a sentence or two about what to pay attention to that day.

Every now and then special days come: a silent day, an unguided ending, eyes closed. They go from easy to hard, and the first time you meet one, a short page before the session explains what will happen.

From the card of a running program you can open the program map. Days you've done are filled, today is bright, days to come are faint. It's all in Setting up a program.

The program that suits you, and a program time

The Programs screen highlights the program that suits you based on your answers to the intake questions. When you set up a program you choose what time you'll do the session. The app suggests a time, and if you want, the program reminds you at that time every day. No new notification is added: your existing reminder is set to fit the program.

Sleep score

If you turn on Use sleep and heart rate data in Settings (or Use sleep data when setting up the Bedtime Routine), the app works out a sleep score from your sleep data in Health. The score only compares you with your own usual nights, not with anyone else. Next to it you see your breathing rate during sleep over recent nights and your heart rate just before and just after a session.

This data is processed only on your device, in memory. It isn't written to disk and doesn't go to the backup, to iCloud or to us. The switch starts off and you can turn it off any time. The details are in Managing your data and in the privacy policy.

The first breath is measured too

At the start of a session the app measures the sound of the room. This measurement used to happen in the first seconds of the session, so the first inhale wasn't counted. Now it finishes during the countdown and the first inhale is measured too. You may see a short wait of a second or two before the countdown: that's the measurement.

The report also speaks a little more carefully. If one inhale wasn't heard, it doesn't say "every inhale was heard". It tells holds with only a small leak apart as "almost all were clean", and in sessions where the inhale stays a little short it gives a gentle suggestion. It's in Reading the report.

Rate, share and send feedback in Settings

There are three new rows in Settings: Rate Soluklan opens the store's rating window, Share Soluklan lets you send the app's link to a friend, and Send feedback lets you email us directly.

On Android

1.9 was also released on Google Play on 30 October 2026 and includes everything on this page. On Android, sleep and heart rate data are read from Health Connect, with the same rules: the switch starts off and the data doesn't leave the device.
