Soluklan 1.8: long sessions, iPhone Duo and battery saving
Sessions of up to twenty minutes depending on the technique, support for the foldable iPhone Duo, a clearer report, battery saving, mindful minutes to Health and three new languages. It's also the first release on Android.
22 October 2026
The starting point of 1.8 was longer sessions. A five-minute session is good for squeezing into the day, but after a while some people want to sit for longer. Long sessions brought other work with them: knowing how time is passing, reading a long session part by part, and looking after the battery.
Long sessions
Session length no longer stops at the same limit for every technique. In Coherent Breathing you can go up to twenty minutes, and in calm techniques such as Deep and Slow, Extended Exhale and Ocean Breath up to fifteen. Fast or intense techniques kept a shorter limit.
Beyond ten minutes, the length slider has a separate zone: its colour is a little different, and the slider resists slightly as you cross the line. The app starts suggesting more than ten minutes once you start finishing long sessions on that technique with a good rhythm.
So you can tell the time in a long session without looking at a clock, a soft interval chime plays about every five minutes, at the start of a round. The room is also re-measured throughout the session: if someone comes in and starts talking, or the air conditioning switches off, the measurement adjusts. In long sessions, a few pauses are allowed too.
In the report, sessions longer than two minutes are split into parts and each part is scored separately: you can see whether you struggled at the start or drifted towards the end. It's all in the long sessions article.
iPhone Duo
On the foldable iPhone Duo, the app fits both screens at their own size. When the phone is folded, the circle on the home screen of the outer screen quick starts with a single tap. When it's open, the inner screen uses the wide layout. If you fold or unfold the phone during a session, the session pauses. When you half-fold the phone and set it on a table, the session screen splits in two: the breathing circle on the upright half, the time and details on the half lying on the table. All three states are in the Soluklan on iPhone Duo article.
A clearer report
At the standard level the report has more explanation: sentences that used to appear only at the advanced level now show at the standard level too. The report's heading also now names the issue that needed the most attention in that session. It's in the reading the report article.
Battery saving
When the battery is low or the device warms up, the session switches to a mode that uses less battery: the sparkles around the circle go away, the screen is drawn a little less often, and the room is measured less often. Hearing your breath, the score, sound and haptics stay the same. If you like, you can keep it on in every session. The details are in the battery saving article.
Mindful minutes to Health
With a switch in Settings, you can have your sessions that count written to the Health app as mindful minutes. The switch starts off, and only the times the session started and ended are written. It's in the managing your data article.
Japanese, Portuguese and Indonesian
With Japanese, Portuguese (Brazil) and Indonesian, the app and this site reached twelve languages.
On Android
Version 1.8 was also released on Google Play on 27 October 2026. It is Soluklan's first release on Android, and it includes most of what's on this page: long sessions, the report in parts, battery saving and twelve languages. On Android 14 and later, mindful minutes are written to Health Connect. Specific to Android, the end-of-day countdown arrives with its new look: if your streak is running and you haven't done a session that day, it shows in the evening how much time is left until midnight. We covered it in the reminders article. Things specific to iPhone Duo and Apple Watch aren't on Android.
