HOW TO USE IT

Shared session

A session run by the phone and the watch together: how to start it, wrist down, when the watch joins later and when it doesn’t connect.

In a shared session the phone and Apple Watch run the same session together: the phone listens to your breath, the watch measures your heart rate and taps the rhythm on your wrist. Both measurements go into the same report.

How it works

On the phone, turn on Shared session with Apple Watch in the technique picker. The switch is off each time you open the picker. The first time you turn it on, the phone asks for Workouts access, and without it the shared session won't turn on. To allow it later, on your iPhone go to Health → your profile at the top right → Privacy → Apps → Soluklan and turn on Workouts.

When you tap Start, a short preparation page appears first. At the same time the watch opens its waiting screen: the technique you chose, the length and "Waiting for phone". The page tells you when the watch is ready. Tap I'm ready and the phone counts down 3-2-1, the watch counts along with it, with Look at your phone written underneath. When the count ends, both start together.

The phone runs the session: when you pause, restart the cycle or end it, the watch does the same. The rhythm is tapped out on both, more lightly on the phone. If the connection to the watch drops, the taps on the phone go back to full strength and the session carries on without a break. If you tap the cross at the top left on the watch, the watch leaves the session and the session carries on on the phone. If you close the app on the phone, the watch leaves the session within a few seconds.

The heart rate the watch measures goes straight to the phone. If you are on the Advanced interface, the phone's session screen shows your heart rate too, and the heart next to it beats at your current heart rate.

The report of a shared session has heart rate lines next to the breath measurement: your average, and the heart rate you started and ended with. On the Advanced interface, Detailed report also has a heart rate chart.

Wrist down

You can lower your wrist during the session: even when the watch screen goes dark, the session carries on, the rhythm keeps tapping and your heart rate keeps being measured.

If the watch doesn’t connect

If the preparation page says "Couldn’t reach the watch", check these:

  • The watch is on your wrist and unlocked. The phone can’t wake a watch that’s off the wrist or locked.
  • Bluetooth is on on your iPhone and the watch is close to the phone.
  • Soluklan is installed on the watch: in the Watch app on your iPhone, find Soluklan and check that "Show App on Apple Watch" is on.
  • Open Soluklan on the watch once yourself and allow the health access it asks for.
  • If it still doesn’t work, restart the watch.

Even if the watch doesn’t connect, the session starts on the phone. If the watch connects later, it joins the session where it is and measures your heart rate from then on.
